Ink Innovation deploys its CUPPS platform at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport
Suriname’s primary international gateway modernises passenger processing through a partnership with Wintel N.V. and Ink
Spain — 30 June 2026 — Ink Innovation today announced the deployment of its Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport (JAPIA, PBM) in Para, Suriname. The rollout, delivered in partnership with Wintel N.V., Ink’s exclusive local partner in Suriname, equips JAPIA with a modern, shared infrastructure platform that integrates directly with airline Departure Control Systems (DCS) operating across the newly renovated terminal.
As the sole operator of JAPIA, Airport Management Ltd. has been working to align the airport with international standards and prepare for long-term passenger growth. The adoption of Ink CUPPS represents a significant step in that digital roadmap, streamlining check-in and boarding operations while creating a scalable foundation for future passenger touchpoints.
Shared infrastructure, lower costs
Ink CUPPS is delivered through a subscription-based model, reducing upfront capital and ongoing operational costs for both the airport and its airline partners. By consolidating check-in and boarding onto a single shared platform, JAPIA can manage resources more efficiently and offer airlines a straightforward path to certification. The platform supports both modern and legacy systems, ensuring compatibility across the full range of airline DCS environments operating at the airport.
Mobile passenger processing is also available through the Ink Touch app on Apple iPhone, enabling airlines to extend check-in and boarding beyond fixed counters, manage demand surges, and maintain operations through outages or system disruptions.
“With the deployment of Ink CUPPS at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, we are establishing the core foundation of our passenger touchpoints from curb side to aircraft side door. Our partnership with Wintel N.V. has allowed us to introduce Ink’s ‘Fit for Purpose’ technology that significantly advances our current operating environment, ensuring a more efficient and enjoyable travel experience for all passengers.” — Vijay Chotkan, CEO, Airport Management Ltd.
Airline certifications underway
The rollout is already in progress. Sky High Dominicana has already migrated and is using CUPPS and FlyAllWays has completed CUPPS certification and is operational on the platform. GOL, Copa Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, KLM, and Surinam Airways are in the certification pipeline. Once certified, airlines gain full interoperability with all CUPPS-compliant software at JAPI and access to additional services, including Ancillary Payments.
“Integrating with the Ink CUPPS platform was straightforward and well-supported. Our agents were up and running quickly, and the shared-counter flexibility has made a real difference in our day-to-day operations at Suriname Airport. We’d recommend it to any airline looking to simplify their ground handling setup.” — Natasha Abdulhak, CCO, FlyAllWays
Delivered through local expertise
The deployment at JAPIA is the first major outcome of a strategic partnership between Ink Innovation and Wintel N.V. announced in October 2025. Under the agreement, Wintel N.V., an established ICT company with over 25 years of experience serving Suriname’s hospitality, banking, and retail sectors, acts as Ink’s exclusive in-country partner, managing implementation, on-site support, and ongoing operations.
The partnership extends beyond the airport: Wintel N.V. is also introducing Ink’s mobile check-in and payment solutions to hotel clients across Suriname, creating a connected travel experience from arrival at the airport through to hotel check-out.
“Our partnership with Ink Innovation is an exciting milestone in bringing modern, connected travel experiences to Suriname. By introducing Ink solutions at both the airport and within the hospitality sector, we’re creating a journey for guests that sets new benchmarks for better services in the region.” — Nelson Kam, CEO, Wintel N.V.
